Peppermint Amour (Organic peppermint leaves): *****
Peppermint Amour, shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more minty fresh. Peppermint is what originally got me into tea, and though since discovering DavidsTea I have tended to neglect peppermint, it still holds a special place in my heart.
Though you can buy peppermint tea in any grocery store, there is something to be said about buying loose leaf peppermint. When I open my Peppermint Amour tin box, the smell is much more sharp and biting than it ever was with ordinary tea sachets. The taste follows suit.
There is definitely an art to making the perfect peppermint tea, and I do find that David’s peppermint is much more sensitive to temperature than the grocery store variety. I used to pour boiling hot water over the leaves, but I’ve found this cooks the leaf and ruins it. If you wait just a few seconds after the water has boiled before pouring, I’ve found it makes it much more palatable and minty fresh, just the way it should be.
